The trade negotiations between China and the US remained uncertain. US negotiators stated that talks with Beijing concluded on Tuesday, but the suspension of additional tariffs will not take effect until signed by US President Donald Trump.
The three major US stock indices closed lower on Tuesday. The S&P 500 closed slightly down by 18 points or 0.3%, at 6,370; the Nasdaq ended down 80 points or 0.4%, at 21,098; the DJIA closed down 204 points or 0.5%, at 44,632.
This week is pivotal for the quarterly earnings announcements to be made by US-listed companies, with four major techs among the "Magnificent Seven" set to report earnings on Wednesday and Thursday.
Tesla (TSLA.US) dipped 1.4%, and Apple (AAPL.US), which will announce earnings this week, also subsided. Nvidia (NVDA.US) set a new high but finished down 0.7%.
